- What are Ringbacks?
- Ringbacks are a new personalization service, which replaces the standard ring callers hear when they call you. Surprise callers with a custom song just for them before you pick up their call. Use the language of music to express yourself.
- What is the difference between a Ringtone and a Ringback?
- With Ringtones, the customer hears a chosen song instead of a standard ring through the phone when receiving calls. With Ringbacks, the customer chooses a song for the caller to hear instead of a standard ring, before the customer answers the phone.
- How do I purchase a Ringback?
- Ringbacks may be purchased through the Internet, over your wireless phone via Axcess Web, and through text messages to the Ringback short-code MYRING (697-464). You can also sign up for the service by dialing 1-800-Alltel-1, from Shop Alltel online or visiting any Alltel retail store.
- How will people calling me know they are listening to a Ringback?
- There is a standard Ringback message prompting your caller to listen to the Ringback while the person they are calling is being reached. You may turn this announcement message off at any time by going to the Profile Settings section of My Ringbacks Profile.
- How do I set a Ringback for a friend?
- You can set a Ringback for a certain person through a Special Persons option on the My Ringbacks page. By using the Special Persons setting of Axcess Ringbacks, you can designate a Ringback to play for a certain person each time he or she calls.
- Can I use the normal ringing tone during work hours, but use a fun Ringback after-hours?
- Yes you can set Ringbacks to be active based on time of day. Just log in and go to My Ringbacks Profile to set your Ringback preferences.
- What kinds of Ringbacks are available?
- Currently, Ringbacks are offered for the following Music genres:
Rap/Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, R&B, Alternative, Metal, Classic Rock, Soundtracks & Themes, Country, Voice Tones, Dance, Electronic, Folk, 60's, 70's, 80's, Oldies, Blues, Jazz, Inspirational, World, Latin, Classical, Comedy, Holiday, Sports, TV/Movies. - How do I pay for a Ringback?
- The Ringback will appear on your Alltel Wireless bill once you have signed up for the service and purchased a specific Ringback.
- How much do Ringbacks cost?
- The service subscription is $0.99 per month, plus $1.99 per Ringback per year.
- How many Ringbacks can I purchase?
- Up to 15 Ringbacks can be purchased and managed in your My Ringbacks Profile. If you would like to purchase more, you must go to your profile and delete other Ringbacks to make room.
- Can I designate unique Ringbacks for specific callers or groups of callers?
- Yes, by using the Groups setting of Alltel Axcess Ringbacks, you can. The Groups setting lets you set any Ringback that you have (including the Free Alltel Ringback) to play for the individuals you choose, every time they call you. You can set up three different groups (My Family, My Pals, and My Colleagues) and assign a Ringback to play for each one. Each group can have up to 5 different group members. For example, in "My Family" group, you can input your Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, and Grandmother with each person's name and phone number.
- Can I designate specific Ringbacks for a given day of the week?
- Yes ? you can do this by using the Special Occasion feature to set a certain day or number of days (for example, set a Holiday Ringback for the week before Christmas). You can also designate a Ringback based on time of day.
- How do I manage my Ringbacks?
- Go to My Ringbacks Profile to customize and manage your Ringbacks. You can add contact numbers, create groups, and assign Ringbacks for certain groups within My Ringbacks Profile.
- How long can I keep a Ringback?
- Axcess Ringbacks will expire in 12 months from date of purchase. You will receive a free Alltel text message reminder when your Ringback is about to expire. Alltel reserves the right to recall any Ringbacks.
- What are Ringbacks recalls?
- On rare occasions, Alltel Wireless will need to remove and recall content that has been previously purchased and distributed for use by subscribers. When a Ringback is recalled, that tone will be removed from your account and replaced with the Free Alltel Ringback. You can change the Alltel Ringback and manage your tones through your account by accessing "My Settings." Additionally, a $1.99 credit will be applied to your account for each recalled Ringback previously purchased.
- How often can I change my Ringback?
- You can change your Ringbacks as often as you like, depending on how often you buy new Ringbacks.
- Can I preview a Ringback from my phone?
- No, you currently cannot preview a Ringback from your wireless phone; however, you can preview Ringbacks through the Ringbacks website.
- How can I extend my Ringback that is about to expire?
- Alltel will send you a text message to notify when your Ringback will expire. If a renewal option is available you will be able to renew the tone via text message.
- How can I remove the Ringback service?
- Service and Ringbacks can be removed by contacting customer service at 1-800-Alltel-1, or by dialing *611 from your wireless phone. Ringbacks can also be deleted by visiting an Alltel Wireless Retail Store or through MyAccount online.
- What is hybernation?
- Alltel customers can disable their Ringback service if for some reason they don't want their callers hearing Ringbacks for a certain timeframe. During this time, the customer will still be charged for service. This can done by going to My Ringbacks Profile and clicking the hibernate option.
